Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up.

Then the chief priests, the scribes,[a] and the elders of the people assembled at the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas.

For the Son of Man has come
to save that which was lost.

Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings
of great joy which will be to all people.
For there is born to you this day in the city of David
a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor,
that you through His poverty might become rich.

Blessed is the Lord God of Israel,
for He has visited and redeemed His people.

He will again have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

As it is written, The just shall live by faith.

For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand,
saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said,

“It is finished!”

And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock!
Let the God of my salvation be exalted.

I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold,
I am alive forevermore.

And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead.
But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me,
“Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying,

“Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is,
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

For Christ also suffered once for sins,
the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God,
being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.

“Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth”;
Who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return;
when He suffered, He did not threaten,
but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously.

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we,
having died to sins, might live for righteousness
by whose stripes you were healed.

But with the precious blood of Christ,
as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

To give knowledge of salvation to His people
by the remission of their sins,
Through the tender mercy of our God,
with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us.

I said, “LORD, be merciful to me; heal my soul,
for I have sinned against You.”

You have taken away all Your wrath; You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger.

Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity
and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?

He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the LORD
In the land of the living.
