That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection,
and the fellowship of His sufferings,
being conformed to His death,
Good Friday - Christian e-cards
Then Pilate said to them,
“Why, what evil has He done?”
But they cried out all the more,
“Crucify Him!”
Because for Your sake I have borne reproach;
Shame has covered my face.
I have become a stranger to my brothers,
And an alien to my mother’s children;
And you, being dead in your trespasses
and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
He has made alive together with Him,
having forgiven you all trespasses,
having wiped out the handwriting
of requirements that was against us,
having nailed it to the cross.
And by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him,
whether things on earth or things in heaven,
having made peace through the blood of His cross.
And being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself and became
obedient to the point of death,
even the death of the cross.
It is Christ who died,
and furthermore is also risen,
who is even at the right hand of God,
who also makes intercession for us.
Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover,
and about the sixth hour. And Pilate said to the Jews,
“Behold your King!”
Yet it pleased the Lord to [a]bruise Him; He has put Him to grief.
When You make His soul an offering for sin,
He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,
And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.
Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.
I am He who lives, and was dead,
and behold, I am alive forevermore.
Amen.
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him,
went forward and said to them, “Whom are you seeking?”
And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off,
but not for Himself;
For I determined not to know
anything among you
except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
Look to Me, and be saved,
All you ends of the earth!
For I am God,
and there is no other.
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him.
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter.
I gave My back to those who struck Me,
And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard;
I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.
Reproach has broken my heart,
And I am full of heaviness;
I looked for someone to take pity,
but there was none;
And for comforters,
but I found none.
Nor do you consider that it is expedient for us[a] that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.” Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,
Now while they were staying[a] in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up.” And they were exceedingly sorrowful.
I, even I, am the Lord,
And besides Me there is no savior.
